Since the success of a product depends heavily on its usability, the work of a usability engineer is becoming increasingly relevant. A usability engineer is responsible for ensuring that a system is designed to be user-friendly. This refers to the analysis and optimization of already existing systems and applications as well as to the development and support of new systems.
A usability engineer oversees the user centered design process across functions. The correct application and implementation of various methods of usability engineering and the design guidelines for user interfaces are the focus here. To ensure this, knowledge in the areas of design, computer science and psychology is necessary. A usability engineer is involved throughout the entire user centered design process. Among other things, the usability engineer is responsible for initializing and moderating the process. This includes the definition of the methods and roles of the employees, as well as the determination of the required resources and the criteria for success control with regard to usability. The work of a usability engineer can have a decisive influence on the success of a product in terms of usability.

Usability focuses on the three factors of effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction. Effectiveness describes the accuracy and completeness with which users achieve a certain goal. Satisfaction is described in terms of usability as freedom from impairments and positive attitudes toward the use of the product.

User experience describes the perception and reaction of a person resulting from the actual and/or expected use of a product, system or service. User experience is not only about the mere achievement of a goal, but rather about the experiences that users have before, during and after using the product.
User experience manages to arouse emotions in users.
