Future Retail 2030: The Funding Program to Guarantee Your Future

Purpose of the funding:

Through subsidized consulting by an external expert (m/f/d), small and medium-sized brick-and-mortar retail businesses are supported in preparing for the future and digital transformation, repositioning themselves strategically and competitively, developing and qualifying their staff, addressing major ecological and social challenges, and combining traditional business activities with online retail.

Who is eligible to apply?

Eligible to apply are small and medium-sized brick-and-mortar retail businesses based in Baden-Württemberg, with fewer than 250 employees (FTE) and either an annual turnover of no more than 50 million euros or an annual balance sheet total of no more than 43 million euros.

* The definition follows the recommendation of the European Commission of 6 May 2003 on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (2003/361/EC).

What consulting topics are eligible?

1. Digitalization:

  • Use of digital technologies and tools across all business areas, including AI
  • Improvement of the company’s digital visibility, including social media strategies
  • Development of digital business models
  • Optimization of accounting, inventory management and logistics through the use of new digital technologies
  • Development of a needs-based IT security structure

2. Strategy:

  • Development of viable strategies to enhance innovation and competitiveness
  • Strengthening the company’s market position
  • Opening up new markets, securing skilled labor and developing personnel

3. Business Succession:

  • Provision of company-specific information on business succession
  • Preparation of an individual, detailed succession roadmap
  • Creation or review of a business valuation
  • Preparation of detailed profitability and liquidity plans
  • Preparation of a company profile for business succession

4. Sustainability:

  • Resource-efficient procurement
  • Product range strategy based on sustainability criteria
  • Operational resource and waste management
  • Dealing with challenges such as the Supply Chain Act or EU taxonomy
  • Determination of the company’s ecological footprint

Funding Conditions and Grant Amount:

The grant is awarded as a subsidy through partial financing.

Funding is provided as a fixed amount per consulting day for intensive consulting under the following conditions:

  • The minimum consulting duration per company is 6 consulting days, with a maximum of 15 consulting days.
  • One consulting day, including preparation, follow-up, and reporting, consists of 8 hours. The consultant's daily rate is €800.00 per day (plus VAT).

  • Funding period: June 16, 2025 – December 31, 2026
